Boost Your Energy By Getting Outdoors

So, you’re ready to feel more energized every day for work and play.

You want to feel more vibrant in your interactions with friends, family and clients.

You know this is correlated with having better health.

BUT, you also…

  • Don’t want another supplement right now
  • Are already getting proper sleep
  • Are eating a mostly healthy diet for fueling your body
  • Exercise regularly, but are kind of bored of the routine

What I’m going to share with you is a whole new way to approach energizing your life. It is a simple formula that will boost your energy and allow you to feel more radiant and alive. Who doesn’t want this, right?!?

This formula is what I teach in my popular online course called: “Outside to Energize.”

I love sharing this formula because it at first sounds so obvious, yet it can make a profound impact.

THE SECRET

The secret to my formula is…drum roll please…to get outside. Yes, it is just that. Simple, right!? However, through my work as a Success Coach, Outdoor Instructor, Adventure Guide and Wellness Professional, I know it is not always that simple.

Do you ever say to yourself:

  • I just don’t have time to get outside
  • My life is too urban, I just don’t have regular access to nature
  • I have always been curious about outdoor recreation, but I don’t know how to start.
  • I don’t feel confident getting out there on my own
  • It’s too cold &/or wet for 6 months, so I’ll wait until next summer

These are real challenges, yet there are solutions. And it’s important.

THE REALITY

Our lifestyles are becoming more sedentary, focused on screen time, and primarily taking place indoors. I work with many clients who when reflecting on their typical weekly routine found that they only went outside about 10 minutes a day. And this was from their car to work and back. I also know that my own middle schooler does not go outside at school at all, and this is from 8:00am until 4:00pm!

WHY OUTSIDE

Scientific studies have recently proven what we may have known intuitively or anecdotally.

Research shows that spending regular time outdoors improves the following:

  • Ability to focus
  • Mood
  • Immune system
  • Recovery time from surgery or illness
  • Increased energy
  • Improved sleep

Time outdoors also decreases:

  • Stress
  • Blood Pressure

THE FORMULA

So, I’m on a mission to inspire and assist people on enjoying the outdoors regularly. While I believe that eating healthy, meditating and exercising regularly is wonderful, it’s not enough for optimal well-being. Through my 1:1 Coaching, Online Courses, and Live Events and Retreats I offer strategies and tools for tapping this additional health boost.  Let me share with you some tips from my formula.

My system involves three areas: nature, movement and mindset. Here’s an overview!

The first step of my formula is to get outside every day for 30 minutes. I call this the “DIRTY30.” The most effective way to do this is to incorporate nature into existing daily tasks and routines. For example, if getting together with friends is a priority every week, consider taking these get-togethers outdoors! Or perhaps you can eat lunch outdoors. We often have more opportunities than we realize. We just have to schedule it in sometimes.

The second part of my system involves movement outdoors. For instance, if working out is part of your schedule, try taking your exercise outdoors. The benefits to exercising outdoors is also a win-win because not only do you receive the added health benefits of nature, but studies also show that people who work-out outside are more likely to stick with their exercise program. Now that’s a deal! Check-out my videos and audios on taking your fitness and yoga outdoors at www.jenbrick.com. When you have longer chunks of time, like on the weekends or vacations, try checking-out different parks, trails or regional wildlife or scenic places for walking, hiking or other recreational pursuits. Just like step one, when you can combine movement outdoors with things you are doing already, it suddenly seems more possible in our busy lives.

Finally, the last piece of my system involves tapping the power of nature for more confidence and purpose in life. I know, sounds a bit esoteric, but hang with me for a moment. There are two pieces to this part. Let me tackle the first here. There is a lot of research showing that one can boost confidence through learning and implementing new skills. For instance, if you learn to play violin, and then you practice and perform, you can feel more confident overall in your life. I suggest that recreating outdoors offers this opportunity as well. By picking a new outdoor skill, ie: paddleboarding or snowshoeing, learning the ins and outs, and then practicing and heading off on adventures, you will feel a surge of confidence. And confidence with this new activity will have ripple effects throughout the rest of your life. Most importantly having more confidence will give you an intrinsic energy boost as well.

IT’S YOUR TURN

So, I encourage you to begin with my “DIRTY30” concept to experience more energy regularly.

When I Coach clients I often have them record their typical week on paper, down to the minute. This has the eye-opening effect of highlighting how you can be both more efficient with your time AND find more time for getting outdoors. A number to shoot for is 150 minutes per week, which is in line with the US Surgeon General.

What I want for you is to feel more energized and vibrant on a regular basis. I know you will feel this by getting outside more regularly! Try my “DIRTY30” and let me know how it goes!
